Conservatives spent decades denying climate change, and when predictions come true they resort to conspiracy theories about weather modification lol

There's literally internal documents from Exxon themselves from the 70s showing this kind of shit would end up happening

Yeah, no, you're just a retarded nigger faggot. Home values are based on demand, location, luxury, and speculation. Speculation beats out everything if property owners and buyers genuinely believed that coastal homes were on a limited timeline of viability. No one wants a house that is predicted to be wiped out by natural disasters. All "global warming"/"climate change" predictions have been set on a 10 year countdown for the last 40 fucking years and all of them exclusively point the finger at human responsibility. Absolutely zero climate change scientists that are promoted by mainstream, corporate media sources will ever say a fucking word about solar/polar cycles. All man made climate change proponents seem to also have some level of personal stake in the information war via alt-energy investments and lobbying.

Lies. It was the primary consensus

>This was solved thanks to regulations
More lies. China and India's emissions of CFC's spiked hard at the same time we were reducing. Overall levels went up not down. Once the public started to become aware of this the problem magically vanished

>These three are the same thing

More lies. They are 3 completely different effects. None of the 3 predictions have become true. Sea levels have remained constant by measurement even though predictions and models have them raised. Temps have remained boradly the same, we have had to change measurement procedures to get them to increase. We have also started to delete historical hot temp reports

You are completely full of shit anon. You can name a single scientific projection that has come true because there hasnt been one. So my point is valid. The graph I was responding to was nonsense

You are also wrong about the 150 year time frame. Measurements from post 2020 are not comparable to historic measurements because of changes in measurement methodology. Measurements from post 2020 are not comparable to measurements from 1994-2012 because of changes in measuring methodology. They are not comparable to 1978-1994 measurements. They are not comparable to 1961-1978 measurements and they are not comparable to pre 1961 measurements, all for the same reasons

We dont have 150 years of measurements at all because we change the the way we take measurements every time and the end result of that is that each generations measurements increase in value. We used to take measurements in the shade. Then we changed it to the open. Then we changed it from rural to urban. Then we changed it to above blacktop. Each generation increased the values without being directly comparable to previous generations. That wasnt accidental

You are a moron. Climate change is real, and humans are not the only cause. Read a book that isn't funded by oil tycoons.

It isn't that hard to understand. The fear is that we'll let too much CO2 into the atmosphere and it'll cause a greenhouse effect that propagates itself. When it starts, it'll be much harder to stop. It isn't unusual for the planet to undergo climate change, but the problem is that we don't know what the fuck that's going to do to HUMANITY. Sure, it might be fine. We might be able to stop the greenhouse effect before it spirals out-of-control. It might never cause any problems in the first place! But what if it does cause problems? What if we can't stop it? This is potentially an extinctio-level threat if the climate changes to be as it was during the Great Dying. We'd be fucked. Sure, life will move on, but we won't.

Climate scientists aren't predicting extinction in the next ten years. They are predicting global temperature changes. They are able to accurately predict global temperature changes based on greenhouse gas emissions. What those predictions mean has always been speculation.

The disastrous effects of climate change aren't going to be felt by you, or your children, or maybe even your children's children. The truly bad stuff will be if/when the greenhouse gases begin to propagate more of themselves in a death spiral. Propaganda and lies about climate change effecting you or your children are just to get people to care about it. If people kick this can down the road, then this may (may) cause big problems in the future. Nobody really cares to give the public the truth about anything. What is the point of telling the truth when lies work significantly better? Nobody cares about the truth, anyway. People will believe whatever they want to.

There are minor effects of climate change that can already be felt. Some areas are getting colder, most are getting hotter. We've melted some of the polar ice caps, but they've been levelling-off.

Notice how they are all in the 80s.

We don't know what climate change will do. We don't. Everyone who says otherwise is lying. It may do this, it may do that, it may do nothing -- we don't know. What we DO know, is that it IS happening. It MAY stop, either by our own handling or natural-means. That's the pure, unadulterated truth; you don't get this anywhere else, folks. Nobody knows what comes next. Do we keep releasing CO2 and hope for the best? Oil executives say, "Yes!!" I don't think anyone else gets a say in the matter, so we'd better hope it turns out alright.
Not me, though. It is my sincere belief that humanity deserves to perish. But we have to do this right! If we get a climate change death-spiral, then we have to go all-the-way -- we can't let anyone survive. If the apocalypse becomes imminent in my lifetime, somehow, then I'm going on an all-beef diet and stealing as much electricity as I can. I'm counting on you to do the same.

He's right, though. It's not normal 'weather', because weather doesn't do this. This is the result of draining established backup & main reservoirs into an area. You don't get thousand year floods like this from passing storms.

Don't call me when some on-the-ground zoomers with nothing better to do end up deep-diving the local watersheds and find them at LEAST a foot lower than normal, even AFTER major rainfall. I called it in North Carolina, and it's going to keep happening to inland cities until the average citizen realizes it's a really obvious ploy by Blackrock and Vanguard to get land for cheap.

There are even more from the 90s that the 80s

One thing is certain, the further forward models go in time, the LESS accurate they become. If we cant get 10-15 years right then we have no chance at long term predictions

There are also 2 major problems with the current political fraud we call climate science. The first problem is that co2 isnt actually a major issue. NOx is the big pollutant that we should be trying to eliminate. However NOx isnt a big part of the energy chain so its not profitable to regulate and very difficult to use as a wealth transfer mechanism which is what current co2 regulation is primarily used for

We have known that NOx is the real climate problem since the 70s and yet we have done zero to adress it. If we were serious about climate protection we would be targeting NOx not CO2. The scale of the NOx problem is at least 30x that of the CO2 problem. Yet for all your climate do gooder talk, you didnt mention it once and I doubt you are even aware of it. You are a fraud, just like modern climate science

https://www.cbc.ca/news/science/nitrous-oxide-climate-1.5753907
https://www.bbc.co.uk/future/article/20210603-nitrous-oxide-the-worlds-forgotten-greenhouse-gas

The second big problem is how much of the change is man made? The climate is permanently in a state of flux. The planet would be going through climate change right now even if humans didnt exist. This is an important question to answer and yet we have made zero serious effort to answer that question. Without an answer its not possible to formulate any kind of solution

>But but but we need to do something!!
Pissing in the wind and potentially making things worse in the long run is not a solution

Nope. There are some that are losing beach front to erosion but none due to sea level rises

>Aren't there beaches all along the Atlantic coast of the US needing millions of dollars worth of imported sand in order to not disappear?
Yes but again that erosion not sea level rises. There are also much more efficient ways to prevent this erosion such as building brakes. The way the US does it is incredibly dumb

>Aren't there thousands of properties along the beach that insurance companies are no longer willing to insure and state governments are having to step in and completely change the rules or they won't have an insurance market at all?
You need to learn what erosion is. Also insurance companies are refusing to cover in all sorts of places. Near a forrest? No insurance for you! Its not a coastal issue specifically

The problem here is that you have done the usual midwit thing of forming a strong opinion without having a basic understanding of the issue, because the media told you too. Hence you you make dumb posts like this

Whether or not climate change is real or man caused is entirely irrelevant. Leftists have ruined environmentalism as a cause because they sink all available manpower and funds into jerk off projects and outright grifts, while treating any disagreement with them as you being a captain planet villain actively trying to destroy the planet. When all our pollinators are dead due to GMO crops being carpet bombed with pesticides, Leftists will roll on the ground farting and screaming about how this wouldn't have happened if we'd paid a 40% carbon tax and a brapping tax

Irrelevant. If climate change hurts us, then we have to stop it. If it isn't caused by humans, then we still have to stop it. Or we can do fuck-all and just hope we find a way to stop it before it becomes an existential threat. Or maybe it won't do anything.
If emissions have been linked to global temperature (it has), then we know enough to understand that we can change it. The question is, do we care? Clearly not. Barely any effort has been expended toward understanding and controlling what may be humanity's death knell.

I don't think we disagree about anything except the portrayal of the issue. I don't care that scientists lie to the public. I only care that the real data is available.
The public is full of completely unreasonable fools. Half of America believes they get to live forever, but only if they give money to old pedophiles. Humanity doesn't deserve respect.

Town I grew up in has had a ton of construction and a few houses near me that never had flooding basically have a swamp yard now that floods every time it rains. Storm management is an issue but the real people needing the rope are the city aldermen that allow the construction and the contractors paying the cheapest civil engineer to not even factor in rainwater and drainage.
The newest thing I am fighting is my state planning to move a state route to go a few miles through a designated flood zone and I am the schitzo at the meetings explaining why it is a bad idea just to have faggots sit and tell me there will be no flooding issues. A few hundred pissed off citizens will not stop the destruction of hundreds of homes and politicians don't care because they pocket money from it.

James hansen prediction was conditional on co2 levels doubling (which they haven't).
Not sure why you're saying there's 0 cm measurable rise. What's your definition of measurable?
the 1989 thing said that if climate change isn't stopped by 2000 then (at some point in the future) countries would be wiped out. I'll give you this one cause making predictions saying x could happen in the future are just BS.

I think most people were wrong about the maldives, I couldn't find the report you cited from the 80s but there's an nyt article on it.

Still, I do think - temperatures and sea levels are rising faster than they used to and that could be a problem or at least lead to unintended consequences. I don't think burning fossil fuels is a good idea, due to pollution and whatnot. There's also the question of how many of these predictions didn't come true because of climate policies (e.g. if we didn't do anything would the maldives be sinking?). I'm afraid I don't know the answer.
My ultimate feeling is there's some truth to climate change but all the smug scientists should have some humility for once and say - we don't know wtf is going to happen and I still struggle to be on board with the extreme climate doomerism.

I'm going to give this another try. My pet theory is that fucking with our water is causing "global warming" "climate change" or whatever you want to call it. Starting with hunting the beaver to near extinction we've been taking water off the landscape and into the ocean. Agriculture drains land, we literally redug river basins to reduce their surface area, dams remove seasonal flooding, ect. Taking that thermal mass out of the has made for more extreme weather swings. Higher highs and lower lows. This is in line with observations. Global warming would be hotter across the board and greenhouse gases do not predict extreme winter weather at all.
I've looked for data to back up this idea and it exists. Water tables outside of watersheds are dropping. Extreme temperatures being set in both directions. And it even explains rising sea levels.
It's not carbon. It's water.

Construction of cities, asphalt, and concrete, create the biggest impact. They generate much more heat than nature, turning the sun into pure thermal islands of rising heat.

I would bet a lot of current climate change in the usa is due to heavy development of Colorado which used to be pristine rocky mountain snowpack that now radiates heat and moisture. As well as heavy migration of industry from the north to the south to escape unions and have reduced taxes since the 2000s. Well building big cities has a bigger impact the further south you go because the sun is stronger.

Baking asphalt and concrete even creates constant walls up upwards air that block mist and light rains, creating drier areas that get no precipitation or heavy rain and not light frequent mists.

In similar fashion the former third world once villages now copies the first world, and a city near the equator, which is mainly third world, generates far more heat per year than at latitudes where the sun is less powerful.

Construction of cities is the real culprit. Construction of cities near the equator has a much faster impact. The entire former third world is now building giant asphalt and concrete heat producers and weather interupters everywhere.

I used to think it was ludicrous until I got fed a video on JewTube late this spring/early this summer about "hot bulb" heatwaves, now I already knew that moisture has a huge effect on how we perceive warmth or cold but outside of controlled environment, i.e. a sauna, I'd never experienced "tropical heat", and well wouldn't you know, this summer was practically unbearable thanks to the humidity as if had been ordered.

Coincidence? I believe in Coincidence but I don't trust Coincidence.

>The fear is that we'll let too much CO2 into the atmosphere and it'll cause a greenhouse effect that propagates itself. It isn't unusual for the planet to undergo climate change, but the problem is that we don't know what the fuck that's going to do to HUMANITY. Sure, it might be fine. This is potentially an extinctio-level threat if the climate changes to be as it was during the Great Dying. We'd be fucked. Sure, life will move on, but we won't.

The fear you're describing is called "The runaway greenhouse effect." Its a theoretical Venusian phenomena to try and describe how Venus got the way it did.
Earth is not Venus. CO2 ppm is 425. CO2 ppm of 4-10 THOUSAND in earths history did not cause a runaway greenhouse effect. You are being fearmongered.
You aren't wrong that the climate is changing and we have no idea what the fuck its going to do to humanity. Kneecapping our capabilities and efforts because some people think we are the problem is not the solution and will only ensure humans aren't here after Snowball or DemonJungle Earth.
