Former 11B here. Can confirm. Just spoke to my wife and we’re on our way for a divorce. My second one and I’m only 34, no kids, completely dysfunctional, addicted to alcohol and weed, and have no friends. Also I make next to nothing despite having a degree and certs because the army taught me as an 11B to never stand up for myself and value eating shit more over pay. So yeah, I’m a fucking loser and probably also heroing myself after this divorce, I’ve also thought about taking a few others with me.

I came from a poorer white family so 031 (Regular Force Infantry) was a good way out of that.
If any anons are in that situation I can recommend it. Living in the barracks is cheap AF, Canadian Army pay is pretty good once you hit corporal, and just don't blow your paycheque on booze or a car you can't afford.

I was RCR so it might be different for Navy or Air Force bases. We had different barracks for different rank levels. Privates to Master Corporals shared one barracks. Sergeants/Warrants and above had different and nicer accommodations. You can choose to live off base in a civilian apartment or if you are married/common law you can live in the "PMQ"s which range from 2 bedroom apartments to larger houses depending on your family size.

you never join the military to enter a combat arms branch. Only the idiots do that. Join to get a skill that can transfer to civilian life and then soak them for anything else that is not nailed down, then leave. Stay for no longer than four years (after three, your VA benefits are locked in, and you are also a veteran when it comes to draft consideration).

I was too smart. Went in as a 25Q, which was LOS Radio Operator/Maintainer. When we deployed we got sent to the front to set up communications before the network backbone was built in an area. Later, I reclassed to 25S and ran satellite terminals the rest of my career. 100% disabled, broken back(l5 was crushed) , nerve damage in my right leg and foot, and TBI. Now I'm a NEET on taxpayer dime.
