Czechoslovakia was subsidizing Russia not the other way around. Slovak school children would literally spend summers harvesting potatoes to send to the USSR.

What are you talking about? They did. "The first opportunity" was after the USSR fell. When the Czechoslovak communist party eased up on the police state thing the Soviets invaded. They almost invades Poland over this or that two or three times. You can't flip the bird when you'll get invaded for it.
