I tried about 10 years ago. Nobody gave a shit. Completely independent system running parallel to web, but not the web. 100% bypasses all big tech companies entirely even at the server level, and heavily encrypted even to the point people can use their own custom encryption.

The problem with human nature is that it is entirely reactive and not proactive. Solutions only gain attention after the wolf actually shows up and it's too late to do anything about it. And this process isn't fast, it takes fucking years and years of development to implement and execute, which would have already been done.

Linus and Stallman been trying to implement Linux for like 3 decades, the moment windows gets out of control and Linux becomes more accessible then people will move to the free OS and the cycle will repeat, happened with facebook, happened with sms, etc. There is no need to be proactive when there's no real imminent weaknesses to exploit.

The only real problem with a new internet is the infrastructure and how expensive it can be to maintain it, It's a monopoly that a few companies can pay for. You don't need a new internet. The internet is like a road system, you don't just build a parallel road system. The web isn't the internet, the web is a bunch of stores/warehouses on the side of the roads. You can use the same internet infrastructure and only access stores built specifically for your use.

It's long story, but suffice it to say there's a VC from a group of VCs who pulled me aside and said he loves the solution, but he can't fund it. If he funded it, it would go against the manufacturing groups, and in turn they would oust him from his little VC island. He said I'm never going to find capital from anyone in those groups and recommended I try alternative sources. So I tried those too, got like zero traction because the masses aren't even aware of the problems.

Long story short, there's no path forward at this point in time.
