Why? Because chatgeepeetee can regurgitate papers? It makes very little difference. You need actual scientists with extensive experience to manufacture viruses. Reading the papers is the easy part.

They already could do that. It's known as Gain of Function. Such research is banned in much of the world. Not in China though (like a lot of risky shit), so all the mad scientists go there to mess around with that sort of thing. If any such virus is going to come from anywhere, it's there.
