Not really. The reason is that they ended up on a land rich with resources. Same as China and Russia. USA/China/Russia hold onto their power thanks to their natural resources and getting a leading start after WWII where Europe was destroyed while the USA was untouched. They have an advantage for as long as they have those resources. They also do their best to fuck over any other emerging economy that might challenge them.
