It's worse than that. Such laws will get resistance in the US (the most they'll go is for porn sites on the state level), but what will fill that gap is technology like Palantir, AI which will have models trained to predict the behavior of US citizens.
"Virtual Surveillance" will be what people will come to know it as. If the "you" in the AI simulation starts acting up they'll send jackboots to surveil you IRL, or maybe arrest/detain you for "precrime" like the Minority Report movie. But the Palantir stuff will start out as something that tracks illegal immigrants but will later be expanded thanks to people like Elon Musk/JD Vance making sure your data is fed to AI's.

Not true really. It's probably more to freely load personal data to the public domain so Palantir can harvest it, and when you think you're going to skip the draft, one of the 6 gorillion security cameras in the country will facially recognise you and the van will be comin' round the mountain when she comes.
