American politics have gone far and beyond theatre at this point. As an outsider who has pragmatic politicians leading my country looking in, it's surrealistically dystopian.

It's hard to align my values with Western ones when you guys run your parliament like a circus freakshow desu. Especially when the head clown in your circus tariffs me randomly (like wtf did my country even do lol) and cost my employment market to sink for no reason. Newsom is an unapologetic douchebag and it's funny, there is no denying that he has done some bad shit to maintain his position.
This entire shtick is clearly leaning into it as well.

Trump captivated the world with a similar energy in 2016. Gavin can't quite go that far because he's been in politics this long and doesn't have the same "larger than life" image that Trump did either.
Also, Gavin in no way sees himself as some big political outsider. He's just aping the "being a cunt on twitter" and doing it the way Donald use to do it, to Donald, and it's funny because Donald sucks and he sold out his base.

JD is completely manufactured and nobody can expect him to do anything serious on immigration or he'd have to deport his own wife.

Nobody can seriously convince a normie that Vance is more appealing than Newsom except for terminally online accounts.
Vance's power doesn't lie in his personality, it's in his connections to tech, which might be the only thing that can stand up to Newsom at this stage.

That said, it's more likely right now that Newsom is positioning himself to be a kingmaker in the democratic nomination. The risk is way lower and the payoff is still excellent (cabinet position) so it mightn't come down to JD anyway. You almost certainly understand nothing of what I just said, I'm saying this for lurkers.
