Dave Ramsey says you can afford a house, you just have to move to where houses are affordable. He's right about that, you know.

I think he's more likely calling out the trend that every zoomer is told they NEED to live in a megatropolis. Like, look at how they cherry pick the data...
https://archive.is/RYeGZ
Nevermind how the bitch can't count, but the "housing markets" in question are only the top 96 markets. Meaning ONLY megatropolis cities. They don't even LOOK at small towns.
I grew up in a house in a small town.
My parents grew up in a house in a small town.
Their parents, and so on.
But ask on /pol/ and
>Oh no no no! I *need* to live in a megatropolis, that's where all the opportunity is!

>Just move to a place that's an economic dead zone where you'll have to live surrounded by mentally ill ghetto people and commute for 4 hours a day, goy

those houses need double the buying prize in renovations and modernization.
not even mentioning the location and surroundings.

They need a ton of work, plus they're so rural that finding a contractor to do said work will be a massive pain in the ass. As the other person here >>513370079 mentioned as well, there are no economic opportunities in these areas. You either need to work remote or drive hours for work that isn't minimum wage. Having kids here either locks them into a life of poverty/neetdom or they have to move far away to start any form of career.

99k for a 1920s cracker box in Tarrant County TX. Property taxes are almost 4k a year. If you like burning money for bureaucracy this is the place for you.

>get a job and a house!
>can’t afford a house on your job? Move to a place where houses are cheaper! I assume you’ll have the same job opportunities there, why wouldn’t you?

Some of his advice is actually helpful. Most of it, beyond basic budgeting, is hopelessly out of touch boomer nonsense.

It never all burns down. It’s a slow grind, meant to wither you away over the next 100 years. Get your shit together, this is coming from someone who used to have this mindset.
