I grew up in the mid 1990's. Entertainment culture corporations back then were already efficient enough to take any emergent youth culture trend, hypercommercialize it and then flood the scene with marketing-driven consoomers in just two to three years. Still going strong here. Most the larger clubs and medium size entertainment complexes in our area have at least 8 or 9 concerts occurring every weekend with sellout crowds for semi-known regional bands and established bands from the past couple decades. Best part is ticket prices have dropped significantly for the concerts since the pandemic and I can actually score reasonable priced tickets - below $30 - for even stadium shows at riverbend, etc. Saw Korn, Nine inch Nails, Staind, Slipknot, Pearl Jam in concert this year, each concert's tickets were ~$25 for decent seats. Hell, was even able to score Tool tickets for under $90 for seats a few rows back from the stage. Haven't paid that low since the late 90's-early 00's. Dunno why tickets are getting so cheap, but I ain't complaining.

Ya'll are fags because there is a ton of great rock music out there, you just have to search for it because there is about 10 times the amount of content because its never been cheaper or more accessible to either learn and instrument or digitally make a song. The problem with that is for every decent band/song there is about 20-50 that are mediocre at best.

Rap eventually killed rock

The last rock like genre that was big was pop punk. After blink 182 went gay there really wasn't much popular rock. I went the metal route in the mid 2000s most people went rap. Extreme metal sub genres still have a ton of real good bands touring. I've seen exodus, napalm death, and morbid angel (I am morbid which is their first 3 albums) in the past year, seeing carcass and cryptopsy next month. There's a really good local grind core band in my area Winston, NC, I've seen a few times that mog most grind bands. Rock essentially evolved to be more extreme for autists or got boring for normies to digest more easily.
