I think the book is genuinely a history book thinly veiled as a self help and interpersonal guide book for marketing. And they no doubt lean into the manipulation label they get too. But straight up there’s laws that have zero practical interpersonal parallels.

I legit think he wanted to write about leaders and emperors of the world and in history but knew that wouldn’t sell well so he said it was about getting and accumulating power kek

Read it a few years ago. What I remember is how many of the examples cited seemed like they could've gone either way and weren't good ones. For example:

>French nobleman throws a garden party for the king (Louis XIV, I think)
>nobleman goes all out to make sure to impress the king
>king gets there, sees how grandiose it is, but gets pissed because 'how dare the nobleman try to upstage me?'

Just as easily, the story could've gone
>French nobleman throws a garden party and invites the king
>nobleman dials it back because he doesn't want to offend the king by appearing to outdo him
>king arrives, looks around, gets pissed and says 'how dare you not put on the best show possible since I'm attending?'

Other stuff was good, like people feeling superior to others if they can anticipate their actions. Worth a read, but just with a grain of salt.

Imagine needing spoon-fed narrative and worldview when you can come to conclusion yourself if you are adept in history, read a single book like the art of war, learn about the world of archetypes. But no, that would take actual interest in the world around you and not give you a prescribed correct path... this is a book for people who think front man political lackeys hold power.

I know, and it's one used in the book. I'm referencing it because, as I said, I could easily see a king being mercurial enough to hate a guy for upstaging him just as easily as a guy not doing 'good enough' to impress him. I think it's just a bullshit cherrypicked anecdote the author used.

Alot of the laws are contradictory. It's pretty difficult to apply these laws correctly without careful nuance per the situation. Most retards take the laws individually when you are supposed to apply all the laws simultaneously to get the desired result.

I don’t think it’s cherry picked. We can anticipate human ego, pride, etc. the point isn’t that the king wanted a shitty party, he no doubt wanted a good party in his name, the issue is the party was so good invited so many people of influence and flexed the connections of the nobleman so an extent it overshadowed the king. He could’ve thrown a rager but kept it at a level the ceiling wasnt reached.

I think it's a poor example because it's not definitive in any way. In other words, if a modern guy read that and tried to replicate it, he could just as easily get fucked over when the person he's trying to impress feels the opposite way. ('It's too big, you're trying to outdo me' or 'It's too small, why are you insulting me?)

He had his moment of trying to roughhouse with the big boys to become boss, so he could make his father proud. Then he realized swashbuckling confrontation wasn’t his style after shit got ugly, he realized his strength lay in enjoying his life and allowing his rivals to consider him a harmless, moronic dandy, rather than being obsessed with maintaining his own ego all the time like the other bosses were. That realization caused him to take stock of what he had already, bide his time as a healthy, happy man with a loving wife, and slowly build his legitimacy in the mob world as an impartial mediator, until the other bosses committed mutually assured destruction with each other and the title of boss lay open to him if he wanted it. His old man would be proud of him, maybe that’s what Carmine Senior was trying to steer him toward all along by keeping him in Miami. Both Carmines were come of my favorite characters, both wise in their own way

It's "soft" power. The one law of power is: develop and maintain a nuclear arsenal and take the resources of anyone that hasn't done so. The key to maintaining that power is then investing heavily in military R&D. You know how Genghis Kahn took over half of the world? By having composite bow tech that mogged the completion at every step. Simple as.

I was interested in strategy because I'm apparently predisposed to it based on personality and skills aptitude tests, so I read a bunch of books out of interest. My reading list included:
>essays by Helmuth von Moltke (The Elder)
>On Game Theory (mostly a meme popularized by McNamara and his RAND fuckboys in the Cold War, but interesting in its own right)
>essays by Harry Yarger (from the US Army War College)
>Strategy Safari
>Vom Kriege (excerpts)
>Billion Dollar Lessons
>Good Strategy, Bad Strategy (my favorite book on the subject)
>Getting to Yes (about negotiation tactics)
>48 Laws of Power (subject of this thread)
>Winning by Jack Welch (not that good, but it's easy to see how corporate America so greedily embraced outsourcing to lower their costs)

The bigger challenge with the subject is how to apply it, especially in any kind of white collar setting since the people making those calls are execs that jealously guard their positions.

Its midwit level , things you can logically conclude just by thinking a little bit
Value wise? Have a midwit friend that doesn't read anything? He'll enjoy this book for some reason (tried it)
So at the very least i guess it's a good start for midwits, maybe one day you can give them Plato's republic , evola , mein kampf etc.

You need a lot of positional authority if you're in a company. Change drives from the top down; not bottom up. You can make all the plans you want, but if someone higher up the chain can nuke or fundamentally alter them, it's a meaningless exercise. That said, if you're an entrepreneur, it's a lot more useful since you're your own boss.

If you boil it down even further, the 48 Laws cluster around just five high-level principles:

1. Control Perception – manage appearances, reputation, and the narrative.
2. Master Relationships – navigate hierarchies, dependency, and alliances.
3. Use Indirection – employ deception, proxies, and framing to maneuver.
4. Exploit Psychology – manipulate emotion, ego, and desire.
5. Time Your Moves – adapt fluidly, strike with boldness, stop at the right moment.

CEO's of giant corporations are always paying him exorbitant consulting fees to ask him how they can seduce their secretaries and shit.

Now ask me how many women Robert Greene has seduced, the answer is ONE, and she took half his money.

His books are all bite-sized History lessons for people who don't study History or much of anything else. Basically sort of like Dan Carlin, he mostly quotes or summarizes other authors' works and then tells people how it's sort of like a scene from Star Wars or a sports analogy or a Clint Eastwood movie.

"You know, when I think of Phillip II of Macedon, I always picture hims as kind of like a young Clint Eastwood. And then Alexander, he's like uh . . . well, he's like Clint Eastwood too, but he's a lot younger, and maybe he's also kind of got some Luke Skywalker in him. And then the Battle of Gaugamela, well it's kind of like a boxing match where two niggers are punching each other and then one of them is the winner and the other one gets knocked out, but then, it's also kind of like . . . let me check my mental rolodex here, I guess it's kind of like Ali v. Liston."

And then people who've literally never read a single History book are like, "HOLY SHIT, this dude is a frickin' GENIUS! He makes History just come alive! It's so fascinating."

Was going to type out a response to all his points but it's so retarded that it isn't needed.

This is just a kike writing a book about kike tactics. If you use kike tactics you're just like them: cowardly, dishonorable, weaselly, half-retarded and a paranoid schizo. Any sane person reads every chapter and realizes it's all bunk. Fuck, even Greene himself doesn't follow half the shit he says, cause he says to "stay independent, don't join any side" yet he's married and supported Obama kek

Most fags who treat Greene's books seriously have massive inferiority complexes and are the kind of retards Machiavelli was mocking with The Prince back in the day

It's genuinely so much better to just be a fucking normal person, stop giving a shit about the kike career world and just do a job you like while building a family and friends outside their sphere of influence, expanding your artistic and spiritual connections to the world, going outside and having fun adventures, &c.

Robert Greene is an interesting person since his teachings are, for the most part, correct. However, the jew is such an autist without social skills he has never been able to make use of it himself. He just writes about what he observes in Jewish Hollywood, Jewish charity, politics etc and connects it to historical events.

It's very useful stuff though, but only if you're not a social retard yourself.

The conventional wisdom in the white collar world is to jump to different companies every 2-3 years, as it's much faster to climb levels than trying to get promotions in one company. Job security doesn't exist, and lots of the people getting cut in the tech layoffs since 2022 are super veterans who have been with places 10/15/20+ years, but still get tossed out like they were H1b jeets hired a week earlier.
