Present day jews took this and many other names to give impression about being "original chosen people" with "promised land".

They are not chosen and there was no land promised to jews:

Israelites are descendants of Jacob, one who blessing was passed. Jacob is father of 12 tribes of Israel. They are not jews.

Jews are edomites, descendants of Esau who was brother of Jacob. Esau didnt get blessing.
