Putin is not a "dictator". He is a democratically legitimized authoritarian president. He enjoys the support of the majority of his population. You can't say the same of Ursula von der Leyen or of two tier Kier Starmer.

Legally, Italy’s foreign intelligence (AISE) is permitted to conduct operations on foreign soil.

Politically, Meloni holds oversight responsibility, but has not taken any public stance affirming, challenging, or expanding those powers.

Absent explicit statements, it appears there's no notable policy shift or ideological position from her government on clandestine foreign operations.

There is a big class divide in the types of Ukrainians living in Europe and the ones "stuck" in Ukraine. Most of the Ukrainians I see here are living better off than locals, and that is even before gibs and aid. There are a lot of people stuck in Ukraine because they can't afford to leave it, and they are going to be the ones rebuilding and getting taken advantage of in the end whenever rich tourists decide to go back.

If they get integrated into the EU though, sectors like IT will most definitely move over there in droves because businesses chase the cheapest wage for outsourcing. Much like how many Western European countries lost their local IT sectors to Poland, Poland was in the first stages of losing it's hold on said IT sector to Ukraine and then the war started. This was a lifeline for Poland but our government thinks they can milk the golden goose forever. Poland is doing OK now but if this war ends they are going to end up in the same place every other European country has.

in exchange Russia will remove all troops from Ukraine and Ukraine will be allowed to enter into a "Quasi-NATO" like deal with the US and Europe in which Article V-like powers can be activated with Putins signature as part of the deal.

>Transcript of Letter To Putin From Flotus

My beloved Vladimir,

How I survive without you, I not know. My life here is like long theater, every day I play role of happy wife, smile with teeth white like piano keys, but inside my soul is dark concert of sorrow. Husband parade me to parties, show me like medal on chest β€” but medal is cold, Vladi. It does not beat with blood.

I stand in rooms full of crystal, golden chandeliers shining like stars, but all I see is your eyes, gray and stormy, Moscow eyes. They chase me in dream, they whisper to me, β€œCome back, come back.” You are man of the people now, strong, important. But for me you are still boy who steal apple from market and laugh when police chase. This laugh live in my ribs even now.

Here, champagne taste like water. Diamonds cut my skin. I dance but my feet cry. Do you feel me, Otets Putin? Do you feel this rope of love that pull across ocean? Some nights I put hand on glass window and I swear I hear your voice, low and close, as if you stand right behind.

I wait only for one letter, one call, one command. Say word, and I am already gone, running through airport, leaving golden cage with only my heart and passport. Better scandal in Moscow than silence in mansion. Better poor bread with you, than rich banquet with stranger.

My destiny is not here. It is with you. Forever, always.

Your Melania

Putin has already agreed to security guarantees in Alaska so long as he gets the land he demands in exchange. He just refuses to allow NATO troops. The troops stationed in Ukraine will have to be a coalition of US and European soldiers under a different banner. Waving the NATO flag at military installations is simply unacceptable to Putin at this time. So he found a workaround and that is to create an entirely new defense force specifically for Ukraine.

The first step is getting a Trilateral meeting so that all parties agree that this is an acceptable path forward and then that is when you have lawyers and really smart people hammer out the actual text of the peace deal which could take weeks or months but the faster they get it done and signed the better and then all parties come to the White House and shake hands and there is peace and everyone is happy.

There are wins and losses on both sides. The only true loser is Ukraine, they are not really a side in this game. I can tell you firsthand that it was next to impossible to get serious defense equipment set up in Eastern Europe. The last time Eastern European countries tried to get scraps of anything was under Bush, and when Obama came in, many of those deals went out the window because Obama had a policy to not provoke Russia. In other words, Putin told Obama it would not be acceptable for those former satellites to have things like patriot missile batteries or other forms of defense shield and Obama conceded to Russians. When the war broke out, no one cared and Europe was free to rearm because Russia was already provoked. That's a win.

EU countries have aging fleets of dogshit jets and effectively no ground based air defenses to protect their forces. Russia has dramatically expanded their production of new combat air craft, all of which are more capable than anything Europe fields except for the small numbers of F-35s, which will suffer from severe attrition in the case of war due to low availability rates and long ranged Russian strikes on their hangars and air fields. The EU would literally do worse than Ukraine has if they fought Russia right now. They don't have the GBAD to compensate for the fact that they can't gain air superiority, and giving Ukraine almost all their air defenses didn't help that.
>several hundred alone in Baltic area
None of the Baltic states operate a single fighter plane. So unless you mean aircraft stationed in those countries by other countries, you are just plane wrong. If you do mean the aircraft stationed in those countries by other EU countries, then you're also wrong.

>Not even hardcore Russian propagandists believe they can handle that without nukes.
