Does he regret the war?

Judging by the 14:1 reports and his utter desperation to end it, I would assume he does regret it.

He realized that his country was a paper tiger. Unfortunately, his pride won't let him accept defeat so easily.
Eventually, he will concede most everything (he probably will keep Crimea as a token of "liberation")

That's the thing. Russia took insane losses with this war. The bare minimum for a 'win' for russia is ALL of donbas, and russia is incapable of taking that militarily. He might want to avoid standing near any balconies after the war

Probably not. All things considered it was better to sort out the problem now than let it fester longer. I think with the benefit of hindsight he wishes he had just sorted this out in 2014, but at the time he was still hoping the west would be willing to just agree to one of the Minsk deals.

Russians broke the Minsk deal because they didn't subjugate ukraine enough.

Just like they are planning on breaking the following deal (isn't it weird how they now demand "just" additionnal concession for the most fortified area ?)

Russia has lost more men in less than 4 years than the US has lost since WWII, and they hit that mark years ago.
Even without getting into the economic and equipment losses that will never be recovered. This war has been a complete failure for russia

I agree, Russia should ask for more. Russia will win this through negotiations or they will win on the battlefield, so they should be asking for more than they would bother with getting on the battlefield before calling it quits. Russia is being stupid by not demanding Odessa and Kharkov. It's obvious that by offering a deal that is far better than Ukraine actually deserves, but which Ukraine and the EU will still reject, Russia is demonstrating to the world that the EU and Ukraine aren't rational actors.

Yes. The 3 day special operation would have made him look like a genius and cemented his legacy as a key player in the reunification of the USSR

I don't think he regrets starting it in general, but there's got to be a bunch of stuff about it he regrets.

Russia's performance has been pretty embarrassing, especially since they're supposed to be one of the premier military forces in the world.

After the fall of the ussr, Russia was on the verge of collapsing into total chaos. Kike carpetbaggers were frothing at the mouth to slice up every industry and turn Russia into a warlord-run rump state. (((Western))) sanctions all but guaranteed it. Whether you like Putin or not, he flexed on kike profiteers like Abramovitch (also, watch when he big-dicked deripaska when he made him return the pen) and consolidated the country around natural resource exportation. The shit in Ukraine was Putin running an oil/gas cockblock against (((western))) penetration into the gas/oil market which Russia sells to Europe. Putin initially sponsored a soft-coup of Russian nationals to politically control eastern Ukraine. He seized Crimea for the oil rights in the Black Sea. All this shit is done to keep Russia economically afloat, as losing their natural resource dominance would be an existential crisis for Russia, dropping them from second world to third world country. He should regret nothing.

He should.
In 2022, all he had to do was wait - the US was bleeding, financially wise (due to COVID). Record deficits, record borrowing.
Give it 2 or 3 more years, and today the US could be entering the hyperinflation phase.

But you can't expect the Ruski to understand actual economics, only tanks and rockets.
