Russia rejects NATO-style security guarantee for Ukraine
https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/trump-zelenskyy-white-house-meeting-ukraine-russia-peace-deal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, alongside several European allies. Trump has urged Zelenskyy to accept a land swap deal with Russia after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

The Russian Foreign Ministry roundly rejected the idea of NATO forces serving as peacekeepers in Ukraine, a provision sought by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his European allies in U.S.-brokered peace talks.

"We confirm the position that has been voiced more than once about our categorical rejection of any scenarios involving the appearance of Ukraine military contingent with the participation of NATO countries (which is fraught with an uncontrolled escalation of the conflict with unpredictable consequences)," a foreign ministry statement reported by Russian state media outlet Ria read.

President Donald Trump already suggested a European-led peacekeeping force to ensure Russia does not invade Ukraine again would be a part of peace talks. Asked if U.S. would contribute forces, Trump said: β€œ[Europe is] first line of defense, because they're there, they're Europe, but we're going to help them out also, we'll be involved.”

Huge part of why the war started was to prevent NATO encroachment, if there are US troops in Ukraine when this war ends Russia lost

But that is completely against what Russia orinigally wanted which was no NATO (and or EU/US ) forces in Ukraine. Why even suggest such a thing?

Of course Putin dont want security guarantees. Thats been said all the time from the Kremlin.
Russia dont want peace. Its not in their blood or anyting. The only way to create peace is to defeat Russia and I don't see that happen any time soon.
I have said it for a very long time, and I believe that Ukraine will be a Afghanistan 2.0. It will be a war going on there for 10-20 years. It will be a big scale version of Donbas.

There are tens of millions of people in Ukraine. Anyone telling you the country is going to run out of people to defend itself is utterly delusional. Russia cannot accept this because for Putin this is an ideological war. Ukraine cannot accept this because for them it is an existential war. Neither will budge until the current leadership involved is gone or there is major revolution at home that leads to peace abroad. Anyone seriously pretending that these peace talks will ever mean anything is just taking part in political theater.

They haven't had a census in a quarter of a century.
Millions of people went to Russia.
Millions of people went to EU.

Perfect example of what I mean. This person is engaging in political theater. He wants you to believe that out of the ~40 million Ukrainians living in the country all the people have left and they are on a shoestring hanging by a thread. They have been saying this for years. They will be saying it years from now when the war remains ongoing.

Yeah, when I read what they were proposing a few days ago, it was obvious that they were intentionally making a bad proposal. There's -0 chance they actually believed Russia would accept the idea of putting NATO soliders in Ukraine, for uh, """"peace"""".

They need to stop using the term "security guarantees." It's too vague. One party can mean one thing by it, and the other party something else. Then they can agree to "security guarantees" without agreeing on the two different things the parties mean by that term.

>NATO in the Ukraine
Yeah the idea is stupid. Utilizing Chinese or Indian forces to serve as peacekeepers would be more trustworthy, impartial, and neutral. NATO has proven that it's not a neutral party. These European clowns think they're more important than what they are.
