It actually doesn't. Russia was already going to be relatively pliant vis a vis Chinese economic influence, Russia has nooks so an actual hot war in the east is very unlikely.
China wants Russia as a secondary boogeyman for the west because they're only likely to be able to take Taiwan in a direct conflict if the west is distracted elsewhere or just flat out accepts it. China was down with the Ukraine war both to test the waters and see how it went for them and also to play up Russia as a major threat. It didn't go well on either account.
However Russia has doubled and tripled down to the point where it's going to basically be a big North Korea and in a way regains threat, because even if Ukraine ended tomorrow Russia is stuck on a military buildup path for another 5-10 years even as its demography goes terminal. Life for anyone outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg is going to get even worse than it already was as state resources become more restricted and they do the entire no butter only guns thing until it falls apart again.
