>>513432033Think about it like this. Their is the official reason given, then their is the strategic reason.
From Iran's perspective, peace was a good option because it makes them look good on the global stage. naive maybe, but as neither the aggressor nor continuing the conflict, PR wise they look best. If (When) isreal attacks again, one will hope Iran will not easily come to the negotiation table.
One of the other factors is Irans top brass were getting iced left and right. whilst from a macro level, Iran was doing well/holding on alright, Its political class and generals were getting killed...a lot!
So, in a way, it was to save the regimes necks too. I half suspect a covert/clandestine 'cleaning of house' is happening in Iran, in that they are trying to root out the mossad assets for the NEXT attacks against them.
Thinking either side was 'winning' is the problem. in truth it stopped too quickly for a clear winner (although Iran came out best even though it lost more people because, ultimately, they saw the cluster barrage strategy could work, as well as data that their hypersonics were effective, so they are probably churning those out like hotcakes in the mountain bases as we speak. maybe even drone warfare for them is in the cards as well next round too.
Israel agreed because as you rightly say they were ill prepared for counter attacks so damaging or precise.
Their basically both in a high-threat cold war scenario right now. Iran just wants to survive and keep Big ol' America away, While isreal wants to fufill its gay 'Greater Isreal' prophecy even though everyone hates them now and don't want to help create it (except the ones they own-which sadly is all our government officials)
