Chang here.
Short term it can stable because Putin is going to sell China to America. The conflict between China and the United States is currently America's greatest external threat. Russia only needs to maintain absolute neutrality in any future Sino-U.S. conflict.
You may not be Chinese and might not know that, although China is the so-called "world's factory," it lacks raw materials. China heavily relies on imports for oil and natural gas (from the Middle East and Russia), minerals (from Australia), and even food (from South America).
In the event of a war (e.g., China invading Taiwan), the U.S. could easily cut off all material supplies to China from countries other than Russia. Thus, without Russia's support, China would lack the confidence to engage in direct conflict with the U.S.
However, in the long term, Russia's corrupt oligarchic system has no future. All of Russia's talent will flee to Europe and the U.S., and once technological advancements render Russia's outdated nuclear arsenal irrelevant, Russia will completely decline into a harmless country.
