Illinois was probably amazing from the 1870s-1970s, but even the “nice parts” have a depressing vibe these days.
I still like visiting Chicago, it’s a cool town. And I have some friends still in the Carbondale area. Although I just got back from Carbondale and that small evil portion seems to be like half the town now.
There is a reason many of us go to Florida or Colorado. And if you really have your shit together, the pacnw. Even the niggers are fleeing to Atlanta
But if you ever plan on running away from home at 16, Illinois is genuinely not a bad place to land for a few years. The state is built to handle lost souls and will gobble them up permanently if you aren’t careful.
