That's not the history of the Iberian Kingdoms at all. The Anglo Portuguese alliance is because English knights assisted them during the reconquista. Portugal is older than a unified Spain anyway.

The only reason Iberia isn't united is because king Felipe ignored the portuguese nobility. Taking advantage of the Catalan revolt, said nobility fought back and got their independence. The kingdoms were united because of succession (the first Iberian king was actually the rightful heir).
