we can eat meat without being horrible about it. we used to do that but ever since we decided it was our mission to also feed billions of browns we've had to industrialize the farming industry creating these types of monstrosities.
We are designed to eat meat but we could at least be nice to the animals that we eat. No one ever talks about the “horrors” of what we did to plants. Bananas are sterile and prone to disease, corn can’t survive in the wild without human intervention, watermelons die without constant supervision etc. These animals were selectively bred to produce food, that is their purpose because we made that their purpose. Despite what most retards believe, meat is extremely cheap in this age because of factory farming, we can tend towards traditional and grass fed but the cost of meat will increase meaning demand for it will drop. We either have factory farms, or we recognize that the cost of meat should be higher, there really isn't an in-between. My opinion is fuck the animals, fuck the cows, fuck the pigs, and fuck the chicken, I don't give a single fuck about their lives and neither do 99% of people, they just want to virtue signal about how nice and kind they are. We are growing and breeding them for one sole purpose: consumption, is it somehow worse to kill a cow cleanly with a pneumatic bolt after a life of living in a cage than brutishly slitting it's throat after grass feeding and letting it live in nature (the good and the bad, the cold and the hot, the predators and the freedom) it for 3-5 years?

You're right about sustainability but nothing we do is sustainable perpetually, we burn fossil fuels and use petroleum for everything, especially in the production and maintenance of green energy. You're delusional about methane, there are easy engineering controls that can be instituted but it basically requires factory farming to contain and burn the recovered gases. Either way, methane is a moderately reactive gas, it reacts with oxygen to form water vapor and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere within a decade unlike CO2 which is thermodynamically stable.
