i have this hypothesis: western businesses took a look at places like dubai and thought wow this is great, infinite cheap labor is exactly what we need. the people in canada didn't realize it's nothing like dubai where jeets are kept at bay and can't compete with the locals in anything, not real estate, businesses, education, or jobs, and live separately and have to go back after their temporary work contracts expire. rather, those indians are now new canadians and they're there for good. cucknadians shot themselves in the foot.
