After seeing the nothingburger today I came here just to watch the seething and suicide letters. It’s beyond EOY, the jobs didn't disappear, the banks didn't collapse (unfortunately), no more use cases and all the dirty laundry is out in the air now.
It’s not going to be Millennial's Economic Paradise, it will not be the Roaring 20's all over again. The world will not be descending into hyper deflation and prosperity (as was obsessed over for months/years) it will be going on as usual with no major gains or rewards.

Because a popular myth that was peddled is education = easy life so we forced entire generations to get college degrees making them worthless in the process. Turns out making generations of people with no hard skills but plenty of degrees is a terrible idea. You don’t have to work construction but if you can’t build a fence you’re legitimately useless.

Times have changed quite a bit. in the 90s if you got a degree there were so many opportunities for good jobs in big companies. today the balance has shifted with higher demand for tradesmen and less demand for white collar, higher entry wages in the trades today.

Manual skills used to be more looked down upon because they were, relative to white collar jobs of the time, lower paying, lower IQ, dirtier, and dead end. A plumber would be a plumber 30 years later. An entry level clerical assistant could be a district manager by the end of his career, or even further depending.
Nowadays tradesmen outearn a lot of white collar employees. Mostly because a lot of white collar office work is so nothing makework jobs for women, so now it's almost seen as feminine or weak to have a job like that.
And I say that as someone with a do nothing makework job.

Looking on jobs websites I out-earn any plumber and I'm poor as shit (part of the problem really, everything has flat lined in the UK so much that its not really worth trying, anything you gain will be taxed, also true of investing incidentally).
