My state has mail-in voting it works great. I have 2 weeks to fill out the ballot. I can look up the no name candidates on youtube and just fill it out a bit at a time.
e.g. there were two women running for a city position, and one has a PhD in the field. But on youtube I realised she's so much of an environmentalist hippie, she literally hated roads. She wanted the city to stop buulding roads and pursue her eco friendly road alternative. I don't know how you figure this shit out if you're voting for a short time in person.

A critical difference is that absentee ballots need to be postmarked the day OF the election and recieved AFTER, while mail in ballots need to be made PRIOR TO elections and recieved BY the date.
