Pretty much everywhere they put in data centers the only winners are the politicians who took bribes to make it happen and maybe the construction companies that build them. Many many many modern systems don't "slow down" when the voltage goes down. They just draw more amps to compensate. More amps = more loss = more heat = less efficient.

This is making the problem even worse. In reality they should be pumping it up to the highest they are allowed to go for extended periods of time : 126v. 5% boost in voltage would mean 5% LESS amperage draw for most non-resistive loads. AC induction motors, (modern) LED lights. EV chargers. Really anything that uses a switching power supply... which is just about anything nowadays. The only things i can think of that wouldn't do this are incandescent light bulbs and space heaters.

But apparently, we are shipping all our spare electric power south to California, so our voltage was dropped to 118VAC even at night when it isn't hot at all.
