THIS is the new postal delivery vehicle.
You will start seeing it by the end of 2025 in select markets and it is slated to replace all the old Grumman LLVs (the current postal van) by 2030.

Say something nice about it.

It won out over this competing vehicle which was all-electric and which IMHO looks like it belongs on a moon colony. Pic related.

They accepted 6 prototypes of teach and tested them extensively. The OP one won, it has a conventional gasoline engine.

LLV stands for Long Life Vehicle, these things are overbuilt. They will be classic vehicles some day, as I said before they are based on the same vehicle platform as the Ford Ranger and the Mazda B2000 and some others cars, even the Mustang for a time. But beefier.

I can see people taking off the huge postal shell and putting on fiberglass Cobra kits on these and having a great time just with the stock LLV engine.

I hope all cars look something like this in 10 years.

- fits drywall sheets and plywood easily
- gas or electric

Former CCA here for USPS. Im a zoomie, 25 years old. Went through the training about a week. Did the driving tests.

I quit after a 2 and a half weeks on the job because they pay $19hr. Not enough. You cant get me to manually case and sort the mail every single day and THEN walk miles and miles every day delivering 50 shitty temu packages to normies and spam mail to boomers every single day in the hot sun for less than $35hr.

It had an ugly cheap paint job (USPS does that to cover the logos as cheaply as possible) and was annoying with the steering wheel on the other side but for $14, it was perfect for a 16 year old.

I was one. The problem wasn’t the job itself. I had a great route in suburbia. The issue was management being a slave driver and sending you back out into the field when you got back to the hub at 5pm like everyone else. They’d say β€œAnon, I need you to do a little part of a route someone didn’t finish. It should take you 45 minutes.”

Three hours later…

I had to hurry my ass when I got back, sort my incoming mail, and stealth around the office to the time clock so they didn’t bother me. Bunch of anti-white Filipinos.

That's a damn shame. Northrop Grumman have built all sports of neat kit for the military over the decades and those little mail trucks are still the coolest thing they ever made. The llvs are downright iconic. Part of Americana as much as yellow school buses. It's like if london decided to retire the existing ones and radically redesign all their black cabs. If they want to keep carriers delivering mail they have to upgrade the vehicles and increase pay structure, right now I think you have to work like 10-12 years to make $32hr LOL.

Get the carriers new vehicles with AC like amazon does and increase pay to $28hr and then $32hr after 1 year. Remember pay is nationwide. Its the same everywhere in every city.

The cuck box mobiles have zero AC in them LMAO. So carriers pass out. It is miserable to deliver mail in them.

This was a long time coming because the post office has been bleeding employees for decades.

The only ones who stay with USPS are the ones who work inside like mail clerks and the desk, they are actually pretty comfy jobs. But even then, they get paid like shit despite staying inside all day.

>Yes, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has a law enforcement and security arm called the **United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS)**.

The USPIS is one of the oldest federal law enforcement agencies in the country, with a history dating back to 1775. Its mission is to protect the Postal Service, its employees, and its customers from criminal misuse of the mail. Postal Inspectors are federal law enforcement officers who have the authority to carry firearms, make arrests, and serve search warrants.

Their work is directly related to the mail and includes a wide range of activities, such as:

* **Investigating postal-related crimes:** This includes mail theft, mail fraud, identity theft, financial crimes, and the illegal mailing of narcotics, explosives, or other dangerous materials.
* **Providing security for postal facilities and employees.**
* **Conducting forensics and intelligence work:** The USPIS has a forensic laboratory and employs analysts who use various techniques to support their investigations. They also partner with other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies on task forces to combat crimes like drug trafficking.

In recent years, the USPIS has also been involved in more controversial intelligence-related activities. Reports have emerged about a program called the **Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP)**, which was designed to monitor publicly available information online, including social media, to assess potential security threats to the Postal Service. This program has drawn criticism and questions from lawmakers about the scope of the USPS's role in intelligence collection.

They mostly disappeared from the roads after a couple of years. I'm guessing they were already near their end of life and going from being used for slow, stop and go, usage, to being driven by teenagers with little experience ended up killing a lot of the jeeps.

Even when I was in training, I tried to dress official as possible so people wouldn’t think I was a creep on someone’s lawn. You don’t get your official uniform until 90 days unless someone gives you hand-me-downs.

You city carriers are complaining when rural carriers have a shittier union. Don't even get paid hourly after the 90 day mark, get paid by "route evaluation" where they determine your pay based on the absolute optimal conditions and the concept you can deliver all mail to a house in 2 seconds (despite many people having 1/4 mi long driveways). That $22/hr you make in training quickly slips down when the route that takes you 12 hours to complete is evaluated at 7 hours, and since you're evaluated on a 7 hour route they throw a 5 hour evaluation route on top of you which was routed decades ago before people developed the rural area to route plotting is fucked unless you've done that extra route several times and learn the tricks.
Had many days where I went in at 4 am and left at 2 am just to work the next day. 20 days on 1 day off since amazon doesn't do rural routes so you HAVE to work sundays to fulfill their contract. Fuck that noise I'm glad my body broke down and I had to quit the job for medical reasons

I did an aux route up here for a little bit and one woman would get more shit every day than the school.
Only drove LLV in training and apart from great turning radius it was pretty well a shitbox. We had the mercedes minivan which was actually pretty decent with a radio and AC and decent cargo area. That new shit can't possibly be worse than the LLV.

My primary rural route was 35 miles and 150 houses with 4 MBUs serving an additional 200 houses (in a golfing community that was somehow considered rural) and I usually got tacked on an extra 25+ mile route when I got back to the station. Sometimes they sent me on a rural route to some ass end nowhere of the county (big county) and the extra route would end up 120+ miles and it was ridiculous because these people would never label their houses because people who live out there don't want to be found, and if they did it was some redneck burnt wood sign and nothing reflective so I've have to drive by shining a high lumen flashlight at every sign looking for their house to deliver packages.

Enough for every delivery vehicle? What happens when they have to upgrade the electrical service because you've just quadrupled the power draw on the panel?

I just had my home panel upgraded from 100 to 200 amp and it cost almost $5k. Imagine how much it will cost to upgrade every post office to support charging 5-15 vehicles simultaneously. And it's a commercial/government building, so multiply the cost by 5x
