I think modern racist are actually more racist than our ancestors. They used to just think browns were dumb and unfit for civilization, and treated them accordingly. It was a much more passive racism. In the modern context, browns are given preferential treatment despite being just as uncivilized as they always were, and this is much more liable to breed actual race hatred.
