Not surprising.
I don't think the UA has ever succeeded in a counter-offensive.
The 2023 counter-offensive delivered the most last longing results (they held robotine for about a year), but most of their operations last between a couple of days and a couple of months.

Besides it isn't even like Russia did something surprising or unexpected. Russia has being making gains in that general direction dialy and this local collapse only made the news because it went behind the final defense line. If the ukraine had the man power for a proper counter-offensive, they'd have man power to stop the daily gains Russia has.
