The Middle East was a real threat to Europe for most of history.

European domination of the entire world was only foreshadowed in 1492. I suppose it'd be formally marked by repelling the Turks in 1683.

Thus, the time in history where Europe towered over the Middle East was 1683-today. That's a generous estimate, and it's merely 362 years.
