It's going to be necessary if we want to improve any further. Human evolution is done. We now shape our environment to us instead of adapting to it, people pair off instead of the fittest reproducing the most, modern medicine keeps people alive that nature would have weeded out.

Also then there's also the problem of resilience to disease. You know the monoculture problem with fruits. One blight will wipe out 100% of a monoculture. Same with humans. You'd be basically doing what inbreeding does selecting for attractive genes, which would make you a good looking but your entire population extremely vulnerable on macro scale.

How reliable? The very first experiments on bacteria happened in 2012 but it was not serving any purpose except of gene editing itself that had no purpose whatsoever except of gene editing. The bacteria in experiment were generally dying.

It is impossible to make anybody healthy or prettier with using gene therapy, as of today. It is a science fiction. I already explained we have so far only 3 fully documented cases of gene therapy _potentially_ healing anybody, one from 2019 and two from 2025. These people can be killed by gene therapy they received anytime, though. Just like basically anybody who received "covid vaccine". Anyways these three individuals still have bigger chances to live decades in full health than people who received "covid vaccine" because the latter served only depopulation purposes.

Gene therapy/gene editing would be used for most or even entitety of XXI century only as a perfect tool of depopulation, safe and effective for elites, as this technology can mimic any disease/disorder related to any organ in a human body in an unlimited period of time. It can kill a receiver 5 minutes after injection as well as 50 years, and in any given moment between. Hence, it serves as a perfect tool to elevate mortality in general population for example by 20-40% for decades and generations. Gene therapy was also proven by countless experiments to reduce fertility by multi-hit way: deterioration of health, miscarriages, stillbirths and destruction of sperm motility/quality as well as permanent follicle depletion. Thats the future of gene therapy for now. Not cancer-healing, not making anybody immortal and pretty, but actually population control.
