From Monterey south to Thousand Oaks is the best place in the nation to live. South Orange County, and most of the county in all honesty, south to North San Diego, is the second greatest place to live. Ok UK bro, I'm a Californian and I'll give it to you straight. This place is a shithole. It is a beautiful state ruined by ugly people. I grew up in Solano county (near the Bay Area) and it was cozy. There were farms and fields everywhere and it was mostly white with a few Japanese and Hispanics. Crime was non existent.

Now? The fields are gone. The farms are gone. Replaced by corporate housing to milk dollars from people who can barely afford it. The whites and Japanese are gone, and every manner of "diverse" individuals from God knows where reside here, creating a tower of babel like cacophony of languages and cultures. These foreigners brought nothing but crime and trash with them and now what once was a beautiful area is simply a and urban trash heap.
On top of that, it's hard to travel anywhere now due to the neverending traffic. Plus the cost of has is like double the national average here due to CA refinery rules. Taxes are high and out of control. Don't expect anything from your taxes though, that money is for government workers and the bullet train to nowhere. Housing costs are astronomical and wages are being depressed by having so many foreigners here.
That said, I can't wait to leave this Godforsaken state. Oh, and you mentioned Vallejo in your post? I live right next to that city and everone in the surrounding area knows not to go there. Crime is rampant there and you will be shot if you make a wrong turn. Same goes for Stockton and Modesto. Those cities are facing bankruptcy as well because lefties think money grows on trees.

I won't leave California as long as I make good money because I'm going to be hard pressed to find a place that's sunny 80% of the year and about 30% humidity for that span as well. Going to LA from the east coast was legitimately a culture shock. It genuinely felt like going to another country, almost third world in some places.
