I met a single mother but it didn't work out. It was my first relationship even though I was over thirty, which was a big red flag for her I know, but still she saw something in me. I met her child within a couple of months of meeting her and within a year she was asking when I would be ready to get married and buy a home for all of us (I was in a dead end blue collar job at the time). To be fair, she was just being practical and trying not to waste time. What I didn't like was the rudeness or what I interpreted at least as a lack of respect and good manners, especially since I was paying for pretty much everything and doing my best to be a good influence in her life primarily. She told me she was a feminist but believed that men were "hunters" who are naturally suited to work hard and provide for their family, but I'm just not that kind of guy and over time I came to the conclusion that I'm better by myself. She was also pretty bad with money. After a couple years encouraging her regularly to save her money (which was why I didn't mind paying for food, gas etc for everyone) she tells me she just took out a loan with interest because she wanted this one specific expensive car instead of an "ugly" car which would have been like half the price. To me that's just selfish and impractical. I still feel for her though because she's a tough chick who has been through a lot and came from nothing. Her child is a great kid too, so good-hearted and polite etc. We haven't spoken in a few months but she knows I'm here if either of them need anything and I've committed internally to putting money aside so in time I can help her kid someway later down the line. That may sound simpish or whatever, but it is what it is.

If a child is put up for adoption and doesn't have expensive health issues, that child will almost certainly find a home. It exists because progressives decided to hold children of inmate/drug addict mothers in limbo so that the mother could theoretically gain custody if she fixed her ways. The number of children in the foster system has no connection to the number of people wanting to adopt.
