I watch a lot of US police bodycam channels. American cops are probably the most professional and honest cops in the world. It's the law that makes them that way. It's perfectly legal in the US to shout obsceneties at a cop. They have to suspect you of a crime before they can even ask for your ID. If he does anything wrong he ends up on the internet and fired. I once tried to see if there were any of those auditing videos from my country, I only found one, it was some Englishman trying to film the cops, he immediately got slapped in the face and told to gtfo. It's probably not even illegal for the cop to do that even though it's legal for him to film. The laws are always so vague that a judge can always interpret them in favor of the cops. It probably says something like he is allowed to use moderate force to protect public order or something like that.

There are tons of laws that aren't enforced... but the caveat is they reserve the right to enforce them when they suspect you of bigger crimes. The turn signal traffic violation is often used to pull over drug mules. The DOJ already knows who they are ( via foia requests to the NSA ) and they have one of their agents ( who basically acts as a state trooper ) tail them until they do one of these infractions which gives them an excuse to pull them over. And the courts have ruled police are allowed to use their k9's to sniff for drugs without PC.

generally i have found the best way to give pushback to LEOs is to wait until they start trying to push their luck, and then offer it in a polite, upbeat tone of voice, slightly apologetic, like "i'm sorry officer, but am i being detained or am i free to go?"

they did something like this near my hometown a year or two ago and made a huge meth bust, but the news stories were interesting because you could tell it was a case of parallel construction and the traffic violation (going 68 in a 65, changing lanes without signaling, etc) was obvious bullshit. but the news reporter obviously couldn't say it like that.

Signs are just suggestions. I have a right to travel and was using my best judgement to traverse the streets safely from point a to point b. I didn't stop for the red light, because the light was insufficiently programmed and turned from green to red too quickly and I felt it was safer to run the light than to slam on my breaks. As for the turn signal, that's clearly the result of a manufacturers defect

Ive gotten pulled over red handed for DUIs twice, the cop just goes to his computer, looks at whatever comes back and tells me to don't do that and sends me on my way. One time I had minors (my younger teenage brothers) in the car.
