The 2020 riots are when the mask slipped and people saw that America's police culture is deeply fucked. There was just a lot of brutality by our boys in blue that didn't need to happen, but the fact that police departments closed ranks to protect their bad actors is where they lost my support.
Our faith in the law is only as strong as our faith in the people who execute and enforce it. If we don't hold law enforcement to the highest possible standards, all we have is bad law enforcement.

I've always low-key loathed the police. They are not only incompetent at their jobs, but they would still perform poorly even if they were somehow competent. They don't want to do their jobs.
