Why is taxing businesses a bad idea?

Why should American companies be forced to compete with Chinese companies which don't have to adhere to the same labour, safety and environmental regulations as American companies?
It's quite literally self sabotage.

Even Goldman Sachs has admitted that only about 20% of the cost of tariffs is being passed onto the consumer. The other 80% is being absorbed at some point prior. The only people who thought tariffs would be 100% passed onto the consumers are those who know nothing about business or are lying to themselves, prices are never based solely on expenses. They are based primarily on what the seller believes they can get.

>can't start a [thing] business in the US because you can't compete with foreign manufacturers
>tariff foreign thing 25%
>you now have +25% profit margin incentive to start the business
>costumers pay +25% for the same thing
Isn't this how things would be for non existing industries?

It is a more cost effective sales tax. I guess you could say that all tax is bad but if I am going to pay a tax I much rather pay a sales based tax than an income based one and if I am going to pay a sales tax I rather pay one where for every dollar I pay a large company pays four. Especially when that encourages the creation of American jobs.
