I make $250k+ per year and I don't buy new cars.
I drive a 10 year old BMW X5 and a 15 year old pickup. Both paid for in cash.

I could afford to buy new, but I don't need a status symbol that is a depreciating capital investment. That's like burning $60k in cash.

I have considered buying a convertible sports car to drive on nice days. Like a 10 year old Aston Martin. Something fun, but not depreciating.
