because the privatisation that originally occured was where govt monopoly was harmful to an already semi deregulated industry such as banking. Where private companies were already 'competing' with state owned banks. Then because it was such a success, they decided it was just ok to start selling everything the government owned like roads and power poles and anything they could lay their fucking hands on and then cant just admit the reason we pay so much for this shit is because an asset that is a natural monopoly should never have been sold to begin with and they fucked everything up but its ok you can just bring in more 3rd worlders to balance the books forever.
