This seems like a legitimate trick. Here's why.

The peace agreement will be between Russia and Ukraine, and therefore may limit what each can do, but not what other countries that are not party to the agreement can do.

Thus, Russia can require that the peace treaty include a prohibition of Ukraine joining NATO. If the prohibition is not in there, Russia won't sign it, and if Ukraine violates the prohibition, the peace treaty becomes null and void.

However, this idea of other countries coming to Ukraine's aid if it is invaded would not require action from Ukraine, and if it did, it would be only after the fact of renewed conflict. Thus a peace agreement between Ukraine and Putin could not prohibit this, and Russia can therefore not require that a peace treaty include such a prohibition.

>Isn't this literally means Ukraine is in NATO?
Obviously not literally. Whole point is to give Ukraine guarantees that are like NATO's, but it's not called NATO, so Russia has no formal reason to be pissed about it.

However this plan is useless, because as long as it's not literally NATO, Russia will test it with hybrid attacks and little green people like it's 2014, until it openly attacks to check western reaction. Exactly what caused entire mess in Ukraine, but slightly more risky.

Meloni's heart is in the right place, but that isn't it. It only makes sense if there are tripwire forces (foreign troops that will inevitably die in case of attack) from Western Europe in Ukraine (same way there are American troops in Poland and Baltic states). This is the only way Kremlin will believe these countries will really go into war with Russia.

Warmongering is actually a function of democracy working as intended, producing policy that makes systems benefiting voters. War is a big jobs creator, as are prisons and schools. Efforts presented as having one goal always turn into some voter getting paid. End homelessness? Turn that into a social work pipeline that gives a voter incurable cases. Without democracy we could do actions that motivated by the will of the leader, but the likelihood of the leader having stupid ideas is very high.

Why did Russia agree for Poland, Balts etc in the 1990s? Because it was in dire state and it wasn't strong enough to oppose.

War in Ukraine is grinding Russian military but also Russian economy. Russia already passed the point of being food-independent. In 1990s they prostituted themselves for food (sometimes literally) and they're on their way to repeat these good old times.

Plan is to wait when current war ends and then put everything in place for another war to not happen. This will only happen if Russia too weak in comparison to its potential adversaries.

There's just no other way. Ukraine was most pro-Russian in ex-commie block and it did most of it's trade with Russia, even after Crimea and Donbas. Zelensky was literally pro-Russian option in presidential election in 2019.

Which country in ex-commie block is currently invaded by Russia?

Obviously you can't please this monster and only way is to make it as weak as possible. This is opposite to warmongering.

Meaningless. All the former Warsaw pact countries used to make things 30 years ago, all we do now is be the outsourced labor for the west. Just because people are 'richer' because of GDP it doesn't mean people are actually richer in real terms.

Every country in this region is brain drained and there hasn't been a single company from this region that has been able to get market share in the EU from the established western powers. Just because we have more chink shit and we get cheap flights or holidays it doesn't equate for the decrease in home ownership, shitty wages and lower quality of living (healthcare, stable jobs and so on) than people had a generation or two ago when the gdp was lower.

They need cheap, plentiful resources otherwise they cannot compete with China and the US on the global stage. The point of this war was to destabilize Russia, regime change it and to balkanize it so they could get their resources and deprive China of them for them to ascend to the number 2 power.

The entire point of the EU now is to get Russia's resources or die trying because if they fail the EU will fall apart anyway. That's why the only policy they have now is eternal war with Russia and they quietly sneaking in police state population control (censorship, rigged courts to overturn elections, all media is state owned, dehumanization of Russians or anyone they don't like, disregarding the will of the people if they don't like it, etc) to lock this in, they don't care about any other policy.

None of these come anywhere beyond overstatement if even that. Prove how NATO controls their government or even directs their military, beyond planning of some operations. With regard to BoJo - I have never actually heard anything concrete about his involvement in the Istanbul talks in 2022. For all I know, he just promised UK support, without forcing Zelensky to do anything. The entire narrative also relies on assuming those talks were going to lead to anything in the first place. Considering the losses the Russians sustained afterwards, it was a good thing they didn't happen anyways, but I don't see any concrete information about the supposed peace talk going anywhere anyways.

Their announced number of nuclear warheads date back from Soviet times, which even back then were overstated tenfold. Include that fact that only a tenth of the warheads can be commissioned, and that they have a failure rate of 90%. That leaves them with 5 functional warheads, which need to travel through the air for hundreds or even thousands of kilometers and not be intercepted by NATO defenses in air and space. Which cities did they plan to level down again? NATO could collectively make Russia vanish from history at this very moment and they would not be able to retaliate in any way. No doesn't. They sell worldwide and USA is the biggest customer. In fact the recent economic problems China is having right now are exactly about that, they overproduced, and the west isn't buying. The other is house crisis. Do some research if you want to confirm I'm not shitting you. It's not hard to figure that out.

It's not. Russia is lost men power, which will lead to brain drain, and no foreigner wants to be in Russia. Russia economy must also crashing as we speak and this is not just the west guessing, Russia top economists including the minister already warned there will be severe austerity measures. Meanwhile Ukraine figured how to crash Russia economy even faster with their own drones and that is currently their strategy. Ukraine goal is to destroy Russia logistics.

You don't seem to know much. Russia is not winning this war and tbf neither is the west. There's no clear winner so far. Russia cannot hold this war much longer though, it can only hold maybe 1 or 2 years.

Instead of tanks and AVs Russians are storming Ukrainians possitions with motorbikes and old Ladas. Instead of establishing air superiority over Ukrainian sky, both sides are using cheap drones to hit any targets. Don't even get me started on what happened to Russian navy on Black Sea.

Objectively, it's working.
>A full blown multi front Russian Invasion is incoming for Poland unless there's new power that people install to prevent it from happening
So? Every Russian invasion that wasn't backed by Germany was repelled by Poles and ended with defeat of Russians.

We know that and Russians know that and that's why Poland is 4th most important country in Putin's mind (3rd if you don't count Ukraine). Don't deny it, we've all see that interview.

Tolerate what exactly? The corrupt representative of the Donbas industrial lobby sabotaged EU integration - something that, regardless of your opinion of it, or it's actual merits or lack thereof, was supported by a majority of the population, and was promised by him as well, after pressure and threats from Russia. Russia, who had been active in stoking division from the 90s and constantly involving itself in their business, and Ukraine is the provocative side?
>The US wouldn't tolerate 1/10th of what was going on.
Perhaps, but we're not discussing America. And just because America would also puppet other nations doesn't mean that Russia wasn't doing the same, which was the reason for all the problems in the first place.
>Nobody in Ukraine is defending their country, they are being fed into a war of attrition aimed solely at degrading Russia militarily for exterior powers.
Maybe that's true, maybe in the final analysis it's two empires fighting by proxy, but you can't say that protecting their homeland is not the Ukrainians themselves' reason for fighting. They weren't motivated by Blackrock's share prices when the invasion began, not are the people dying since.

>the russian economy will crash because of austerity

Yes I have considered and the conclusion is that I do know about the world. USA is currently doing that and they've been successful. That's what tariffs were for. China growth slowed down, that was the objective.

It's not true that sanctions didn't work. They did work, but Russia had reserves for the war and that takes time to drain. Well now it's drained, so what did Russia do? They printed money. That is not a solution, it's cope. All that does is make them survive a little longer at the cost of long term damage. That's why Russia economics are terrified.
