Yes. I had a bit more appreciation for the French because ironically their tendency to be a little stuck up meant that they actually gave a shit about their culture somewhat. They didn't hide their ignorance about other places and would ask questions out of genuine curiosity more often.
The Germans however have made a culture, and a competition, out of denying and rejecting any semblance of cultural pride left there, as this is a core component of their pseudo-cultured and pseudo-intelligent bullshit.
Which is probably also one of a few reasons why they have such a disdain for Americans because, especially in our media that they see, we show a lot of outward pride. They assumed they knew a lot about America based on the bullshit media they consoomed.
I had a conversation, if you could call it that, with a German and a few different expats from other parts of the Anglosphere over a smoke, and I guess he must not have heard my accent at first because he spent a good 5 minutes just shitting on America, unprompted. My only question was "have you ever been to the US?" "Of course not, I don't want to get shot!"
Ironically he was also fatter than I was. Kek
I had a much better time with Central and Eastern Europeans. Especially Eastern. Being historically poor and uninteresting on a global scale has unironically spared them from whatever psyop that's destroying Western Europe. I will gladly transport my ass back to a shitty soviet era flat in bumfuck Moldova before I ever step foot in Germany voluntarily.
