Yes. But it wouldn't be a good thing to subject them to mass country-wide trauma like what happened to Germany. Regardless, they were indeed little monsters during WW2. To me personally, one of the worst things was the cynical use of Shinto as a state religion that deified the emperor, but the happy ending of this was that when Hirohito finally addressed the population on radio for the first time in history, it was a huge national humiliation.
