Kherson
Any chance Russia could try to take it? Why and why not? It is right there at the frontline.

Moving troops across a river in the face of concerted resistance is very hard, as you might glean from observing any war ever

By force - zero. If hohols waste more time instead of agreeing to peace it can be included in the demands though.

How about paratroopers and heavy bombing?

Right now it is impossible. They have better chances taking Kiev than Kherson because the river and muddy terrain is too wide. Even if they have several battalions ready to cross with amphibious transport they'll suffer massive losses.

>paratroopers
congrats all you've done is get yourself stranded behind enemy lines as light infantry with no resupply

>heavy bombing
russia doesn't have the resources, and furthermore bombing urban targets improves their defensibility because it's harder to clear ruins than buildings. for urban bombing to be effective it has to actually hit the enemy, but you can't see him because he's inside buildings and it's comparatively easy to harden those already hidden targets

yes those rivers and lakes will be a problem. Maybe cross river upstream and attack from north?
Anonymous (ID: R03sS7/x) Greece No.513692668
Yes and no.

If you encircle the city and starve it to death, you could.

But russians would never do a reverse leningrad. Too much cost of life and the backlash would be huge.

Eventually ukraine will fallback though. Attrition is on its peak phase. So we may see large arrows in the next 6 months give or take.

No you idiot the only goal they have is to take Odessa and make Ukraine a landlocked nation. But this will drag NATO into open conflict with Russia because they need those ports. Gosh you're such a freaking idiot

That would be the British/Montgomery way, the Australian and Russian way would be to tunnel under the river and pop up inside enemy lines, maybe even use existing oil or gas lines with stormtroopers in full hazmat gear. Get up the cunts.

Trying to engage in urban warfare while needing to cross a river seems like a bad combination. With frontal assault out of the way and how the russian army tends to take on cities, they will need to concurrent landings, establish beachheads and then surround the city. This is hard to accomplish with swarms of ukrainian drones flying overhead, so this can only be done if either this is done in a massive effort or with the ukrainians getting significantly distracted elsewhere or with the ukrainians being so thinned out that there is almost no one left to defend the city anyway. Each of these requirements are not likely to be me in the near future, though the third one seems to become a possibility, seeing how the russians could punch deep holes into the ukrainian lines.
