At some point, you're the aggressor in an altogether different crime.
I accept that it's gay, but sorry, that's just the way it works. He couldn't make any kind of reasonable argument that he was defending himself or anyone else from death or threat of grave bodily harm.
That being said, even though I think it's totally fair that he got convicted, I don't necessarily blame him. Honestly, I think it should be legal to fucking kill thieves, on principle. At some point, there are valid reasons to kill someone other than self defense. That's just my opinion. I wouldn't act on that opinion because I don't want to go to jail, and fact of the matter is that he did break the law, so everything is in order here. If you don't like it, mail your local politician a letter about it, I guess.
