It is strange to think about how prominent the new atheism stuff was in the 2000s...
Really they just represent a further evolution of that which they critiqued, as individuals they'll not be much remembered at all. (Except maybe Dawkins.)
They tried to be more Christian than the Christian. Christianity is immoral and bad because it isn't inclusive and universalist enough, is their charge. By making Christian values more consistent, the church is left behind, and the world itself must become the church. "Humanity" Liberal values, and egalitarianism of the sexes and races. Why, Jesus would blush.
