I needed major surgery at 19 years old and I was in the "coverage gap" for medicaid in a state without medicaid expansion (basically if you are an above 18 male you are on your own when it comes to medicaid). By the time I was 20 years old I had a $40,000 medical debt which I just ignored until they stopped trying to contact me.
I decided to pretend to be more retarded than I actually am so I could get SSI and housing vouchers. I will be staying on them until I die. I don't care what anyone says and I encourage as many people to take advantage of the system as possible.
