All things tend towards disorder, it takes an input of energy to maintain order.
Western govts make it very expensive for themselves to maintain order, a drag on the system. Soviet Russia went to the other extreme in which the spent so much energy trying to maintain order. ( factory lineman with no family say thing?!? Gulag!!)
China is a wise happy medium. Do what thou wilt, but if you already have significant power and go against us publically, we will disappear you

China isn't improving.
They only publish numbers that show they are improving.

They have large areas of land they can't maintain the infrastructure for because they simply don't have the money. So it's falling apart.
They also have some very poor areas where people are perma unemployed and have to resort to eating dogs.

Thing is though, the Chinese people can put up with a lot more suffering than the average American could. That's why I think China will win, even if they are experiencing their own version of the Gilded Age.
