- Lackluster health education starting with fat slop being served as school meals
- Pumping corn syrup into everything not homemade
- Cheap food especially polluted by sgars and corn syrup, so depending on your social class you might literally ne unable to escape it
- Glorification of fattitude and wrong application of 'body positivity'
- Indulging in food binging as social coping mechanism for the ever increasing stress levels in american society

The reasons are manifold and they also haunt other countries like the UK, but also germany and poland from what I've heard. I wouldn't be surprised if the chinese suffer from it in 20 years as well, though that will depend.
