The incident began at 6:01 p.m., when the suspect robbed an Aral gas station at the Karolinger Bridge, threatened the staff with a knife. He grabbed cash from the victims and ran outside.

Two police officers pursued the suspect and caught him just a few minutes later. The suspect managed to grab a pistol and killed the police sergeant.

Notably, because the suspect is a dual citizen, the crime will be listed as being committed by a German. That is the way police statistics work in the country, which lists anyone who is a German citizen, even if they have another citizenship, as “German.”
