A long story short there used to be a cultural and communal aspect to drinking. When I was growing up pubs were second homes for most men. They'd be at the pub daily. Community has been ripped apart.

Crack dens can't replace pubs. Drugs have replaced alcohol. Younger generations socialize less outside, and basically live from their bedrooms, living rooms. So they spend most of their time alone doing drugs, or invite a couple associates over to do drugs.

If your main problem is vitamin B12 and you don't want vegan supplements I suggest beef livers maybe once a few months. Beef contains lot of vitamin B12 but is extremely expensive, so go for the livers that animals use for storing vitamins for maximum vitamin content. However I would be more worried about protein. Protein isn't just to build muscles, it is the most important macronutrient for all life, especially for animals who cant synthesize it unlike carbs and fats, so be sure to get the minimum requirement from plants, because generally the more protein-rich the food is, the more expensive it is (beans and protein-rich beans are more expensive then bread and oil, meat being the most protein-rich is the most expensive). As anon said you can live few years without B12 no problem but protein deficiency will fuck you up much much sooner.

You can buy stuff like pork butt which is like 2 bucks a pound. A typical 10-15 lb roast will last you an entire week of BBQ pork sandwiches or however you want to eat it. The hangovers, the wasted weekends, the time I could’ve spent with my family were feeling sick recovering. It’s just not worth it.
