The job market for engineers is collapsing but so are the numbers of graduates and people starting engineering degrees, so it averages out.
CompSci on the other hand has seen a massive increase in graduates and students and I dont see where they are all supposed to get jobs.

There is no evidence that offshoring or AI has caused a reduction in labor in USA. A better explanation for a tough job market for recent grads is that there is a large mature older white collar labor force, but the share of works in white collar jobs hasn't actually decreased.

For tech specifically, the over-hiring in late pandemic, higher interest rates, and a change in the tax code are the main reasons that hiring is down.

We've been offshoring to India for decades and the percentage of our labor force in white collar jobs has steadily risen (besides the quick spike and decline in 2022). There's not a fixed number of jobs being distributed between the west and India.

Being fluent in German would be the most important part. Any engineering job that can be done in english is most likely already in India. Otherwise look at Siemens career portal, they are generally the biggest and best employer of electrical engineers.

Kek. Imagine studying CS? You can just pay for a 3 month boot camp. There's virtually no reason to learn anything beyond algorithm & data structure fundamentals, which should only take a month. Get a 4 year degree in whatever field you're interested in and have a boot camp in your back pocket. Software engineering should be a back-up for everyone, regardless of background. 99% of software engineering jobs can be performed by individuals just out of a boot camp
