It’s been like this for a while and it also takes several years to make a film while many classics were made in a year. For example, most of Back to the Future was filmed with Eric Stoltz then all his scenes were reshot with Michael J Fox and the film was still finished in less than a year. Despite being a mess of a production it’s perfect. Hollywood forgot how to make movies and AI will make production obsolete which is why they want to pass laws to prevent people from making movies with it

It's the lack of reading. Virtually no one reads and the few that do read essentially porn. Most modern English literature, like the stuff that wins awards for being high-brow, they are now written at 8th grade reading level.
The average American reads at a 5th grade level (in reality it's like 30% reading at a 9th-12th grade level and 70% reading at 3rd grade or below.
Publishing companies openly break the law and say they won't accept any white male submissions which is the one demographic left writing in English that could write the next great modern novel so the entire reading industry has slowed to a standstill. You could transcribe the dialogue in movies and study it written down.....but then that'd just be a book.

You must read stories on paper to write stories at an acceptable level that audiences won't find shoddy. It's 100% a requirement and you can perfectly track the downfall of modern movie ticket sales and other metrics based on the average age of movie writers getting young enough that they are unlikely to read. Anyone under age 40 today is very unlikely to read or at least read anything that isn't absolute shlock so no one under 40 can write a good movie

Does Hollywood even make movies anymore? Last time I checked it was all nonstop Ironman and Thor superhero crap, then Marvel stopped making movies, and there were no movies left. I thought Demon Slayer (Japanese superheroes) was the movie this season, since I guess you need to import more superhero movies given the lack of them right now. That there's also generic zombie movie on now checks out I guess. It's all garbage.

This movie was great, I loved it. Danny Boyle is a dawg. The atmosphere was great, the cinematography was great, the sound track is one of my favorite albums to ever come out. I listen to it while I single track in the woods. My top 5 movies are:

Taxi Driver, Jaws, Trainspotting, Children of Men, The Thing, and then 28 Years Later waiting in the 6th slot.

I'm aware the baby thing is kind of retarded, but it's a style of substance movie for me, sort of like The Quick and the Dead. That movie had a shit plot, but it knew just how to present itself.

Nothing gets made unless it’s part of a franchise because studios don’t want to take any risks since they’re competing with a monopoly (Disney), so if anything is risky it gets less of a budget causing everyone to cut corners which means a worse movie.

Moments that don’t hit as hard as they think it will. It’s very typical for Netflix movies to save on budget.
It’s the kind of movies that feels like nothing really happens when I’m 3 hours, and they need to have a trilogy to convey a story that could have been told in 1.5 hours with the right pacing.

Big coorporations hate risk and creativity. In the past movie had few investors and producers had more freedom.
Now its owned by megacorps that bureaucratize everything and that creates basic already seen movies with predictable earnings.
Its not just movies that have this. Big companies kill inovation in many other fields.
